Ecopond Barley-bio Algae Control contains naturally occurring safe micro-organisms specifically selected for their ability to control algae by starving it of nutrients. It cleans water by changing the water chemistry to inhibit algae growth. Use it to prevent blanket weed and green water in spring and as a preventative measure throughout summer.

We recommend removing as much of the blanket weed filaments as possible before using for the first time. Regular use will prevent re-growth and green pond water. A 250 ml bottle will treat a 4,500 litre pond for approximately 6 weeks.

Recommended Dosage: Initial dose 125 mls per 4,500 litres Maintenance dose: 20-40 mls per 4,500 litres weekly thereafter. For smaller ponds: a minimum initial dose of 70 mls followed by a minimum maintenance dose of 10 mls per week should be applied. For example a typical household bath holds approximately 180 litres of water when full.

Barley-bio Algae Control can be used in all types of ponds and is harmless to wildlife and pets.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have been following the instructions fully and after 3 weeks my pond has still not cleared, what can I do?

The best thing is to be persistent and continue with the treatment and perhaps increase the quantity of liquid you use. Exceptional heat will cause algae to grow much quicker. Ensure the pond has enough oxygenating plants. It may be necessary to remove dead plant material from the bottom of the pond.
